Thank you to those who attended our fundraising event!
While Tending The Grassroots has passed, our year-end fundraiser goes on. This year, our communities took bold steps toward a just, livable future. Through For The People’s fiscal sponsorship, the Kicking Gas Campaign helped hundreds of Washingtonians replace polluting gas systems with safe, affordable electric options and showed what’s possible when we follow the leadership of youth and organize for collective care.
Our work is far from finished. The federal government shutdown has delayed, and put at risk, funding for several of our programs, creating uncertainty in our timeline. We’re grateful for strong Washington State leadership, which helps us continue this work as we remain committed to serving our communities throughout this disruption.
This year, Tending the Grassroots is brought to you by:

What is Kicking Gas?
Kicking Gas is a grassroots Whidbey Island-based climate justice organization that works to make home electrification measures accessible and affordable to those who need them in the Puget Sound area.
Our work also raises public awareness around the significant climate and public health impacts of fossil fuel and wood combustion in our homes, bodies, and communities.
Support our work to decarbonize Puget Sound!
Clean, Efficient, Low-Cost Energy
Indoor combustion of natural gas and propane releases toxic chemicals into the air we breathe, impacting our respiratory system, brain, endocrine health, and more.
Burning wood indoors has been linked to higher incidences of cancer, especially among women.
You can save an estimated 20-50% on energy costs each year (no more propane refills)!
Electrification = energy-efficient heating AND cooling.
Ductless heat pumps lead to air filtration plus healthier air year-round.
Register with Kicking Gas to learn more about our programs and how we can support you, receive special offers, and be notified about upcoming events.
Why Electrify?
Help decarbonize our community for a greener, more resilient future.
Make the Switch to an All Electric Home.
In June 2023, we surpassed our goal of installing heat pumps in 100 homes in South Whidbey!
