SOLARIZE ISLAND COUNTY

This campaign ended on July 4th. We are actively working on holding another Solarize campaign and event in the spring of 2025! If you’re interested, feel free to sign up for our newsletter at the bottom of the page and look through the material from last year below.

Installing solar on homes can seem like a daunting process: from perceived costs, to complicated technical details, to figuring out which installers to choose.

That's why Kicking Gas is sponsoring Solarize Island County, a solar group purchasing program in partnership with Olympia Community Solar.

In preparation to launch the campaign, Kicking Gas participated in a competitive bidding process to secure solar installers. They vetted contractors for equipment quality, business practices, and negotiated special pricing with Northwest Electric & Solar, Western Solar, and Blossom Solar. By purchasing solar in bulk and partnering with trusted installers, Kicking Gas is making the process of going solar simple, secure, and accessible for our community.

To be part of Solarize, sign up for a free solar site assessment at SolarizeIsland.org. A Solarize installer will provide a virtual or in-person site assessment of your home or business and provide a detailed solar proposal at the campaign’s discounted group rate. If residents choose to contract, the solar installer will schedule the date of their solar installation.

Solar customers benefit from reduced energy bills thanks to their solar production and net metering. Net metering is an agreement between a customer and their utility that allows them to earn utility bill credits for any extra energy that flows back into the electrical grid. Customers can offset their entire electrical bill with solar, except for their fixed monthly customer charge.
